Taipei, June 15, 2011 (CENS)–Chunghwa Picture Tubes, Ltd. (CPT), the third-largest thin film transistor-liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) panel manufacturer in Taiwan, recently claimed that its has won orders for touch panels from some international brands.

CPT utilizes part of its 4.5th-generation (4.5G) and 6G capacity to produce touch sensors while commissioning its subsidiary in Fuzhou, Fujian Province of China to assemble them into LCD panels or modules (LCMs).

The company`s president Lin Sheng-chang recently claimed that its integrated touch-panel production line at the Fuzhou facility will have a maximum monthly capacity of 200,000 panels initially. Lin added that the initial capacity is expected to be fully booked by August by some major international brands as well as white-brand customers in China.

The president added that CPT would complete its evaluation in July concerning the scale of next-stage touch-panel capacity expansion. The capacity-expansion project is expected to be completed within one quarter, allowing CPT to kick off second-stage touch-panel mass production in the fourth quarter this year.

Currently, CPT uses two 4.5G and one 4G lines to produce small/medium-sized panels, and utilizes part of the capacity of a 4.5G line and a 6G line to turn out touch sensors. CPT now ships about three million touch sensors to a Korean customer per month. The firm`s 4G line focuses on automotive-application products such as dash display panels, which has been certified by different automakers in Taiwan and China.

Lin stressed that CPT would not invest in next-generation TFT-LCD production lines, but will focus on adjusting its product mixtures and improving company financial structure to achieve higher profitability.
