Policewoman Victoria Dixon told how she discovered the haul in a Fiat Punto being driven by suspect Junior Bradshaw, 32.
A black-handled samurai sword, two knives and a length of green garden-style hosepipe were found in the boot of the vehicle.
Two hammers, a metal spike, black tape, masks and gloves were also discovered in the car along with printouts from AA route planning maps.
Prosecutors claim Bradshaw and co-accused Kevin Liverpool, 35, were in the final stages of executing a plan to cut off Miss Stone’s head.
WPC Dixon told the court she found the stash after following the battered vehicle until it stopped in the centre of Cullompton, east Devon.
She was suspicious because the car had serious damage to its bonnet and members of the public had reported its two occupants acting strangely in a nearby estate.
A court usher holding the sword and two small knives walked slowly alongside the jury box at Exeter Crown Court yesterday.
The 10 men and two women jurors craned forward to get a better look at the weapons.
