IMO has gained ATEX approval (EX II 2G Ex e II Gb) for its type ER and ERPE range of feed-through terminals, are suitable for operation in potentially explosive atmospheres 94/9/EC.
The ER ATEX range is available in seven sizes offering ratings from 630V (21A), to 1000V (167A) in cable sizes from 0.5mm2 to 16mm2 (AWG 20-5), for solid conductors and 1.5mm2 to 70mm2 (AWG 15/00) for fine strand conductors. In addition, three sizes of ATEX approved earth terminals are offered: the ERPE2.5/4 (22.5mm2 / 4mm2) (AWG 13/11), ERPE6/10 (6mm2/10mm2) (AWG 9/7) and ERPE16/35 (16mm2/35mm2) (AWG 5/2).

The terminal housings are manufactured from engineering thermoplastic Polyamide 6.6. The material has excellent electrical, mechanical and chemical characteristics, even at temperatures as high as 185oF (212 oF for the standard ER range), and offers the additional advantages of containing no cadmium-based pigments. The Polyamide 6.6 moulded housings absorb humidity from their surroundings, making the plastic material elastic and future proof, even at temperatures down to -4oF (-40oF for the standard range).
