Larson Electronics has announced today the release of an explosion proof drop light designed to allow operation with high voltage 230 VAC current commonly used in countries outside of North America. The EPL-230X24VAC-100 Explosion Proof Hand Lamp features rugged construction and Class 1 Division 1 compliance and is fitted with an inline transformer that allows operators to plug the unit directly to high voltage 230 VAC current for convenience and safe operation.

The EPL-230X24VAC-100 explosion proof hand lamp from Larson Electronics is a U.L. approved Class 1 Division 1 explosion proof hand lamp that gives operators a versatile and convenient source of low voltage lighting that is capable of operating with high voltage 230 VAC electrical current commonly used in countries outside the USA. This heavy duty hand lamp features a lightweight yet rugged housing formed from copper free aluminum, rubber bumper guard for added protection against impacts, and an inline step down transformer that allows the user to power the low voltage lamp from high voltage 230 VAC electrical current.
This explosion proof light is equipped with either a 60 watt or 100 watt incandescent bulb depending on the operator’s choice, for economical yet powerful operation. The lamp is protected by an aluminum cage and a heat and impact resistant lens for added reliability. When equipped with a 60 watt lamp this light is suitable for Class 1 Division 2 locations, and when equipped with a 100 watt bulb is suitable for Class 1 Division 1 locations. This explosion proof drop light is also fitted with 100 feet of SOOW cord that is resistant to chemicals and abrasion and has a step down transformer installed inline with the cord for convenience and easy operation. The transformer on this unit steps down 230 VAC current to 24 VAC or 24 VDC, also depending upon the operators choice of configurations, giving operators the ability to provide low voltage lighting in locations where only high voltage power sources are available.
Since 230 VAC is most commonly used in countries outside of North America; this light ships without a plug, allowing operators to equip the unit with a plug that is relevant to their particular region. This hazardous location work light is ideal for inspection work, close work inside containers and tanks, and in industrial locations where a versatile and convenient source of illumination running with low voltage lamps is desired.
“The EPL-230X24VAC-100 is a new addition to our group of string lights; this drop light gives operators the ability to step down 230 to 24VDC to provide low voltage where required,” said Rob Bresnahan with Larson Electronics’ Magnalight.com. “This Class 1 2 Division 1 2 explosion proof hand light provides portable light within classified locations that require low voltage.”
