LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — A University of Nebraska organization will
be joining efforts to expand research and development of water
management in the Middle East and North Africa.

In a news release, the university says it signed a collaboration
agreement with the U.S. Agency for International Development on
Thursday.

The work will be done by the university’s Robert B. Daugherty
Water for Food Institute. The institute is a research, policy
analysis and education institute.

The new partnership will focus on irrigation, groundwater
management, rain-fed agriculture and drought risk assessment and
mitigation. The partnership also will support projects by the
Middle East North Africa Network of Water Centers of
Excellence.
