SAN FRANCISCO, CA–(Marketwired – May 23, 2013) – Skout CEO Christian Wiklund today announced formation the Skout Trust and Safety Advisory Board. This permanent advisory body is made up of some of the nation’s leading online safety experts who will provide critical guidance on improving Skout’s online safety for both its teen and adult communities.

It will also help us work through some of the more challenging issues we may face in the future as we continue to push the envelope in developing new technology that allows people around the world to meet, chat and make new friends,” said Wiklund.

Stephen Balkam – founder and CEO of the Family Online Safety Institute (FOSI), an international, nonprofit organization whose aim is to identify and promote best practices, tools and methods in the field of online safety (www.FOSI.org). Prior to creating FOSI, Stephen was the founder and CEO of the Internet Content Rating Association and the Recreational Software Advisory Council, where he led the creation of the world’s leading content description system for digital content.
Anne Collier – is an author, journalist and youth advocate she is co-founder and co-director of ConnectSafely.org; founder and executive director of the nonprofit Net Family News, Inc.; and editor of NetFamilyNews.org, co-director at ConnectSafely, a group dedicated to advising parents, teens, and businesses on best practices on the social web.
Barb Izzo – Strategic Business Advisor to several technology companies, including mobile and online gaming companies. Ms. Izzo has served as General Counsel for a number of Silicon Valley companies, including Digital Chocolate. Ms. Izzo has also worked at the law firms of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich Rosati and Jenner Block.
Larry Magid – is an American journalist and on-air technology analyst for CBS News. Larry serves on the board of directors of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. He is also the founder of SafeKids.com and SafeTeens.com, and co-founder (with Anne Collier) of ConnectSafely.org.
