BROOKSVILLE —

The stricter water restrictions previously in place have returned for residents in the northern part of the Bay area.

The Southwest Florida Water Management District has enacted tougher water restrictions for Hernando and Citrus counties.

Phase Three rules dictate a maximum of once a week watering. SWIFTMD officials changed the restrictions due to below normal rainfall. Groundwater and surface water levels also are critically low.

The restrictions go into effect March 10.

Phase Three restrictions also affect car washing, pressure washing and fountains.
