Converters VC-2020 and VC-2030 at the Sensor Test 2013 Measurement
Fair in Nürnberg, Germany from May 14-16th in booth # 108,
hall 12. Marketed under Vectron’s SenGenuity
family of sensors, the new converters are DIN rail mountable and provide
real time viscosity and temperature readings from the ViSmart®
VS-2000 and VS-2500 series of viscosity sensors. The RS-485 converters
support ASCII and MODBUS RTU protocols, respectively.

The new converters expand SenGenuity’s line of VisConnect®
Converters to include the VC–2010 CANopen Converter, VC–2020 ASCII over
RS–485 Converter, and VC–2030 MODBUS RTU over RS–485 Converter. Both the
VC–2010 CANopen and VC–2030 MODBUS RTU Converters have been third–party
tested and verified to protocol standards, while the VC–2020 ASCII
Converter utilizes an easily implementable ASCII bus–friendly command
set. The series of Converters also provide critical Converter and Sensor
status information along with the viscosity (AV), temperature (C)
measurements.

The new VC-2020 ASCII and VC-2030 MODBUS RTU converters are integral
parts of two viscosity sensing configurations. For non-hazardous
environments, the converters directly connect to the ViSmart®
VS-2010 and VS-2510 series of viscosity sensors. For hazardous or
explosive environments the converters interface to an ATEX certified
VB-2511 shunt-diode intrinsic safety barrier and an ATEX-certified
VS-2511 viscosity sensor. The customer can then directly interface the
VisConnect® Converters to their programmable logic controller
(PLC) for automated measurement and control of viscosity.

To facilitate uncomplicated system installation, the Converters are DIN
rail mountable and have easily accessible screw terminals for process
interface connections and sensor connections. The Converters can also be
connected to optional DIN rail TBUS connectors which minimize system
wiring and decrease installation time. The DIP switches, available on
the top of the Converters, minimize system setup by allowing fast bus
configuration. Settings for bus bit rate, node ID, and bus termination
are all available. The narrow housing (22.5mm) allows Converters to be
installed adjacent to one another thus reducing cabinet space
requirements. Due to their wide input voltage range the Converters can
be used with most industrial power supplies, especially those which
target the industrial standard level of +24VDC.
